As per Dad’s words, “You can look at Tynemouth at any angle, and it will be picture-perfect.” I mean, no matter how colorful New York City was, everyone knew that it still had gray areas hidden in the shadows.

I would often see in the movies that kids who got uprooted from their hometown tend to have difficulty fitting in with everyone else. Well, I agree to disagree with that. Despite growing up in New York, I still felt as much of an outsider as my mom and dad ever felt the first time they set foot in the Big Apple.
I was never sure why I felt a tyning sense of belonging in that city. My parents would always ask, “Is anyone bullying you?” I would reply no, and they would not believe me because I would continue to look sad and sluggish.
When I continued to act like that in Tynemouth until middle school, my parents decided to take me to a counselor. Mostly, they are worried that I might be entertaining some tyne suicidal thoughts in my serenity. I would insist that that’s never happened – that I merely had nothing to say – but they had seen too many teenage suicides to take my word for it.
Although seeing a counselor was against my tyne’s wishes, I tried to be as honest as possible when I met one. I told her that I did not feel like I belonged in NYC, and she said that some people tend to feel that way about a location. She clarified to my parents that it’s hardly due to bullying in my case, which allowed them to sigh in relief.

My parents contemplated it the entire weekend. The reality was that I had never been to that little town in Tynemouth. Mom and dad tend to fly their parents to NYC every year for days of luxury and fun, but it was never to Tynemouth. They insisted that nothing is exciting about seeing fields and waters left and right, so the new arrangement was better for everyone. However, because of my counselor’s suggestion, the prodigal kids had no choice but to come home to the relatively small but lovely town of Tynemouth.
The Unforgettable Experience Of Visiting The Small Town in Tynemouth For The First Time
My parents showed me from the old photos; there was genuinely nothing to see in Tynemouth. Since it was the UK, I expected it to be wet and cloudy all the time, too. But I was pleasantly surprised when,

Gladly, my superiors and other company executives are considerate of my request. Of course, I know they agreed to my demands because they knew what I was going through then. I am mentally and emotionally unstable, but I am still able to work, and I am still part of the company’s assets.
After five years of staying and working in London, I already became a subject of the Queen, which I thought was cool. Then, a couple of years later, I found the love of my life. It was the best thing that ever happened to me after the death of my parents. And with all the mental health issues I endured, my love life gave me hope that I could still be happy despite all the negative circumstances.
Being with Lisa made me happy – too happy that I almost forgot about my depression. I lost count of the days that I felt sad because she always made me smile. She makes me laugh, and she takes care of me as much as I take care of her. She loved traveling, so I always went wherever she wanted. We always spent time hiking and visiting lakes. She loves the outdoors, and I have begun to love them too. We always try different things that have to do with visiting places and learning about different cultures. I come from a close-knit family. My relatives were the type of people who wanted to make every occasion an excuse to get together. At first glance, the town seemed like it was always so serene. But when you look at its history, you would realize that it’s far from that.
I am no expert at Tynemouth history, but I learned that a few ships sank near its shores in the 19th century. Various wars also erupted there, considering people in the olden times used to travel by water.
I figured it was perfect for the elders in the family who enjoyed a great story.

Indeed, these are not ordinary days, especially for people from Italy, the Philippines, New York, Wuhan, and all other areas that are hit devastatingly by COVID-19. These days are not ordinary for those who are seeing the pandemic realistically, feeling the anxiety and stress of fighting against an invisible villain that has been making chaos in our world mentally, physically, emotionally, and economically. While we are on lockdown with very strict guidelines established in place all over the world, a lot of people, including me, ask if they can still possibly travel and fulfill their life long dreams.
A friend of mine who owns a famous travel planning company told me that the global community is influenced by the promise of discovering the world and the different places that we are presented with when we leave our homes to travel. I’m planning a family vacation in one of the rivers in our hometown, where we can set a bonfire and grill some barbecue and smores. Another thing that I added to my list is catching up with friends from afar. That, I haven’t done in such a long time – quarantine or no quarantine. If there is one realization that I had amid this crisis, it is that life is short – it only takes a virus to stop someone from breathing. I have friends from around the world, so I’ll be doing myself a favor of finally being able to keep in touch with them and, of course, traveling! Now I think that’s one of the best ways to live life.
